IFOAM World Congress - Textiles meeting

The organic textiles component of the IFOAM world congress has just opened in Carpi, Italy, with a discussion panel involving activist Vandana Shiva, economist Wolfgang Sachs as well as others such as representative of the National Organic Agriculture Movement of Uganda, Musa Muwanga and Gerard Hermann of IFOAM.
Vandana Shiva has been speaking about the impacts of conventional and GM cotton in India and recalling the impact of the Bhopal chemical accident which has been a focal point for action to reduce production and consumption of pesticides, especially cotton pesticides.
