The Tex-Stil show held in Copenhagen from 8 to 10 August brought together several hundred exhibitors from Scandinavian countries for wholesale offers mainly to boutique and small shop owners of northern Europe. The offering is about evenly split between yarns, textiles and equipment for sewing and knitting.
The show is not specifically organic or fair trade in orientation, but the importance of the value added by these double certifications was clearly in demand.
Among the principal exhibitors is Butik Strik, a Danish company leading in the region for sales of luxury fibers and specialty yarns and accessories for hand knitting and crochet. Butik is also the exclusive distributor in the region for Peruvian branded Pakucho organic Fair Trade naturally pigmented cotton yarns, and Angel Touch, organic alpaca yarns.
